While this Bengaluru-based "college" had told its students that it was affiliated to Bangalore University (BU), that was clearly not the case. Students had already completed one semester worth of studies in the institute, which offers BCom, BSc and BBM. Students were even issued fake certificates.
The girl in question, who has remained anonymous, spoke to her lecturers, heads of departments and office officials for any kind of clarity as to why results hadn't yet been declared. They told her that BU itself had delayed the process. That's when she decided to directly go to the premises of BU to directly talk to university officials. It was then that she discovered that no such college was even registered with BU.
Once she found that she and her friends had been conned, the girl walked right up to Jnanabharathi police station and filed a complaint. As a result, the police have registered a complaint against the managing director of the institute along with her three sons. They have also arrested one of them so far.

An officer privy to the investigations that followed spoke to Bangalore Mirror, saying, "It was the student’s complaint that helped us expose the scam of the institution. Even the university officials have been informed about the scam. We suspect that there is somebody within the university who is helping the accused." Looks like it took just one student to school this fake institute.
