Weeks before an exam or on the day before one, it isn’t uncommon to see students running after the person with the ‘best’ notes in class. Unlike textbooks, these ‘notes’ have a way of breaking down complex academic concepts in a language which can be understood by the average student.
In an interesting turn of events, the Class X science notes of 17-year-old Shruti Tiwari from Matehiya village in Lakhimpur district was compiled into a book titled ‘Science Sense,’ according to the Times of India. Written in Hindi, these notes were Shruti’s attempt at grappling with science subjects.
“Unlike most other students, I switched from English to Hindi medium in Class IX. It was a major shift, and I found it hard to understand several topics in physics, chemistry and biology. After struggling for a while, I decided to start preparing my own notes in Hindi. The idea worked for me, and I began scoring well,” Shruti, who is currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Agriculture Science from a degree college in Bheera town, Uttar Pradesh, told the publication.

According to her teachers, Shruti was an average student, who later topped the Class X exams. They believe that her success was down to the meticulous notes she maintained.
More importantly, these notes were able to break down seemingly difficult concepts, thus allowing other students to understand them. Little surprise that she was encouraged by her teachers to compile the notes into a book.
Initially, there were no takers for her decision to publish the book, but soon an online publishing company took an interest, and on December 22, 2017, her book was launched on Amazon and other e-commerce platforms.

The book was also reportedly on display at the World Book Fair in Delhi, which concluded on January 14, 2018.
